Designation of rain water treatment plants.

Water streams resulted from rain or snow melt wash off all available contaminants from terrain. These are most commonly oil product spills, sand and little rubbish. Operation concept of rain water treatment plants.

The treatment process is implemented in several stages:

  • Primary removal of oil products and suspended matters;
  • Thin-bed settling;
  • Coalescing on a floating filter medium layer;
  • Filtration through a sorption filter medium.

Plant пво-св design includes several sections:

  • Section 1 –an oil/dirt trap. Contaminated water flow enters a receiving tank. Large particles (sand, sludge, small stones) settle in a settling chamber (1.1). A majority of oil contaminants and solid particle residues are separated when passing through the settling chamber membranes (1.2). Separated oil products come to the top and are left on the surface.
  • Section 2 – a filter with floating filling medium. Pretreated water contains a fairly large number of oil products in the form of emulsion. While water flow passes through the filter medium a disperse system breaks down and oil containing contaminants are precipitated into a separate liquid phase.
  • Section 3 – a sorption filter. Its main function is a final advanced treatment in compliance with quality target values. Activated carbon or mineral sorbents (gaize, zeolites) may be utilized as the filter medium.
  • Section 4 – a clean water collector.

In the course of operation пво-св plants shall be periodically serviced:

  • Sediment formed in the settling chamber (section 1.1) is removed with the help of a sewage suction truck.
  • Water table in section 1.2 is cleaned by means of discharging flotation complexes into a sludge tank via a swing pipe. The sludge tank is cleaned mechanically to complete drying. Wastes contained in this section are pumped to a receiving storage facility
  • The floating medium (section 2) is cleaned by draining filter contents into section 1.2.
Cleaning of the sorption filter (section 3) and the cleaned water collector (section 4) is not provided for.
